Moving home near end of fixed rate

Hi, this feels like a very silly question but when you are moving home (and mortgage provider), do you need to wait for your fixed rate to end or can you start the process of moving (house on market, viewing etc) before that? Ours ends in September, but we are keen to sell. Last time we moved we just ported our mortgage to the new property, but I've seen better deals with other lenders through mortgage broker websites.
Thanks!
Thanks!
