I have a mandoline, which has extras to grate and chop, off-grid
My mandoline comes with a container, but there are some really funky spacesaving mandolines on the market.

I have a very basic, inexpensive food processor, and I use it a lot - mixing batter, making pastry, slicing carrots and other root vegetables, grating carrots for carrot'n'orange cake, chopping nuts and making breadcrumbs for nut loaf.....All stuff I used to do by hand, til Arthur took over my life. Arthur Itis, that is.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)2

Making pastry, grating chocolate and breadcrumbs, bulk chopping of onions homemade stuffing, making puree of fruits for cakes and ice-creams, hummus, chopping cooked meat and then onions and breadcrumbs to make patties.... It's not something I use everyday, by I wouldn't be without oneSealed Pot Challenge no 035.

i love Bircher muesli and make it in advance to but have always left out the apple as I worry it'll go brown. Could you share your recipe please? Also the cheesy lentil chilli sounds yummy - would you be kind enough to share that too please?1 -

This freezes well and is even better the next day, the recipe is easy to scale up as well
For Bircher muesli I use measuring cups, and scale up if needed, with this ratio1 cup of oats1 cup of apple juice1 grated apple
It should look sloshy at first, If it looks too dry, more juice. If you mix the grated apple with the Apple juice it won't brown, coats the surface and prevents oxidation. Fridge overnight. We make 3 days worth for two of us (double recipe above) and it keeps perfectly.
Then we serve usually with banana, maybe a spoon of yoghurt and if there's any soft fruits they'll go on top too.
Hope that helps.
Oh, also we freeze the left over apple juice for the next batch.1
