I have an account on my credit file, which defaulted Jan 2016. The account was fully paid in Jan 2022. I assume that it will remain on my credit file until Jan 2028.

No. It should have been removed Jan 2022.
Did it definitely default? Are you viewing up to date files?0 -
Defaults are supposed to drop off your file after 6 years regardless of any action you take.
It should be gone now, and its unusual that it has not done so, are you certain it was a default ?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
