Solar panels + battery quote - Advice please

 Hi

We're seriously considering solar panels + a battery & we are considering accepting option 2 & I'm hoping that someone with more experience than me can give me their view as to whether this is a reasonable price ?

We're based in Lancashire & they're a local firm.

Any advice appreciated

Cheers

Jenny

I don't know how complicated your install is - it does say "split roof" - but for a normal single-aspect system both those offers would seem quite pricey.
Is your roof particularly difficult, with two small aspects?
@Spies had a small split-aspect system installed recently, I don't recall how much he paid but maybe he can share his experience?

On the face of it they look quite expensive but in the current climate it is hard to say , my advise would be to get a few more quotes , which of course is easier said than done.

For example I had a quote from light renewables for 8kw of solar with Solaredge and 2 x 6.5kw growatt split over 6 roofs for abour £13k . but that was a couple of monhhs ago so who knows what it would be now.

As for battery size it would probably good to know your useage and if you have an EV so could go on a tariff like Octopus GO.

Also ask before you sign what the availability of the batteries are I know people have been waiting months for them.

I've paid deposit on £14k for 18 No. Panels over two flat roof areas, all with Tigo optimisers, two gen2 inverters and two 9.5kW batteries - so to me I would say expensive.
Certainly get some more quotes from other suppliers for comparison as the market is busy, so prices will fluctuate.
    PV total 19.8 kW system:
23 x 420W East/West split over two flat roof areas at 10 degrees inclination.
13 x 390W South spit over two flat roof areas at 5 to 20 degrees inclination.
6 x 390W south wall mounted at 90 degrees inclination.
7 x 390W West wall mounted at 90 degrees inclination.
    2 x 5 kW hybrid inverters
    4 x 9.5 kWh batteries (38 kWh total)

    Thanks everyone

We've got a south facing dormer bungalow with 3 dolls house dormers so we can only fit four panels on the front roof.

However we have a flat roof dormer at the back of the house so we can put another four tilted panels there. So that's why its split roof.

We're planning to go for the bigger battery. We don't have an EV yet but we are thinking that we will get one.

OK so I'll try to get some more quotes. Any recommendations?

    Cheers

You will have to check with planning dept on the flat roof part.

Planning Permission: Solar equipment mounted on a house or a block of flats or on a building within the curtilage
All the following conditions must be observed:

Equipment on a building should be sited, so far as is practicable, to minimise the effect on the external appearance of the building and the amenity of the area.
When no longer needed equipment should be removed as soon as reasonably practicable.
All the following limits must be met:

Panels should not be installed above the highest part of the roof (excluding the chimney) and should project no more than 200mm from the roof slope or wall surface.
The panels must not be installed on a building that is within the grounds of a listed building or on a site designated as a scheduled monument.
If your property is in a conservation area, or in a World Heritage Site, panels must not be fitted to a wall which fronts a highway.
Note - If you are a leaseholder you may need to get permission from your landlord, freeholder or management company.

I went with light renewables but my system isn’t installed yet so not a recommendation. Other people have used them on here the vibe I got was they do a good job but can be slow with the paperwork.
