Battery Mowers

About 10yrs ago I stopped collecting the grass, it seemed silly to put it in a green bin for trucks to haul away. So instead of cutting the grass say every two weeks, I cut it roughly once a week, so the grass cuttings lay on the lawn and burn off that day, or the next.
The advantage is that I can walk really quickly (shorter grass, easier for the mower), zip up and down. No stopping to empty the grass box. If the grass is too tall, because I've left it too long, then I cut it at a higher height, then rinse and repeat perhaps 3 or 4 days later.
Sooo fast and easy. Am I the only one? Any downsides to this?1 -

Also bear in mind the battery might need time to cool down before recharging.(my mower really heats batteries up unlike polesaw, strimmer, or hedge cutter. Instructions say not to recharge when hot)0

We've used a cheap lidl battery mower for the last 6 years, it copes well with long grass and rough areas but is starting to rust a little so we've just upgraded to a 2 battery 40cm Ryobi mower. The old mower is moving to the allotment and we'll take the battery back and forth as needed.
We already have several Ryobi garden tools and batteries and are happy with them and with the battery life so it was a logical choice for us.2022. 2% MF challenge. £730/30001 -
Had a Bosch one for about 6 years, bought on offer with 2 x 2.0ah batteries, its been pretty good, but the on off switch is getting temperamental. We have two reasonably sized lawns which we use it on and you can't usually get it round both without using both batteries. One battery would do about the size of a tennis court.
The thing that really annoys me is the price of the batteries, a 4.0ah battery to buy on it's own is £170+ most places, which is absolutely rediculous and out of kilter with other brands. It's quiet and it gives a good finish, but spare batteries are far too expensive.4 -
I've only got a small lawn so the Aldi mower is fine for me, and I have two batteries (which I don't need in one session) due to the other tools in the range I have. It's portable so I take it up the allotment and across the road to the neighbour's bigger lawn whilst they are on holiday. Nice and easy to change the cut height too, so might be an option for those of you who collect mowers!:-)The cuttings go in my new bin which is currently at 66C, so should make compost very quickly. I might even take it to our football training at the local park this week just to cut in a few pitch lines.2

Just noticed today they have the Bosch Rotak 35-650 with 1 x 4ah battery for £359 inc vat in Costco.0

We are looking at a battery ride on which is very pricy compared to petrol, for those of you with ride on mowers is there much servicing and maintenance needed? We're going to have a look next weekend and try a drive to see what they are like and compare to the petrol ones. I'd prefer to go electric since we can charge on solar, though I expect it'll work out more expensive long term.

I’ve had my current petrol ride on for 19 years. I have had to change a couple of belts. I know I shouldn’t but I go go several years between oil changes and just wash the air filter out. I sharpen the blades every 4/5 years. I recently put a new battery on but had been jump starting it for several years as the original battery wouldn’t hold a charge for very long. I’m still in the original tyres but one has goo in it after a thorn puncture.Northern Lincolnshire. 7.8 kWp system, (4.2 kw west facing panels , 3.6 kw east facing), Solis inverters, Solar IBoost water heater, Mitsubishi SRK35ZS-S and SRK20ZS-S Wall Mounted Inverter Heat Pumps, ex Nissan Leaf owner)1
