Jobs that fit around kids

I don't mind putting baby in nursery but it's finding a job that pays enough for the £50+ fees per day that will make it worth while
Is there a perid where your partner is up ? e.g. if he sleeps from 8 a.m. to 3, might you be able to look for something which was 3.30-6 or even 2-6 looking for a childminder for a couple of hours, rather than a nursery for the full day?All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
My wife who has a Labour and Economics Degree chose a new direction before her first choice of career even started.
This was solely to work around our new family.
She started working in a nursery that our then 3/4 year old attended and due to this, our 2 year old was given a place there.
My wife continued there when the eldest moved to full time school and once our youngest left nursery my wife also moved on to Teaching Assistant at a separate primary school.
She did her TA training in the evening whilst still at the nursery so was ready to move as soon as the kids grew.
Fast forward 8 years and she has never looked back. This was done in a second language and no GCSEs which she has subsequently done over the course of a few years in the evening.
Sure the money is not great compared to other careers but
- every weekends off- every bank holiday off- all school holidays off- most teacher training days match up with our kids school
- excellent pension scheme
I own and run a care home. Have about 1 weeks holiday a year, work most bank holidays and can work late (8pm/10pm) with no notice fairly often.
Due to my situation, my wife's position could not be better for us.0
