How to get X-ray Images

Has anyone attempted to get images on a CD via their GP? My GP will give me the written report, if they've requested the x-ray. The GP was the one requesting the x-ray, which was done at the local hospital. It's a whole lot quicker to get the written report through the GP rather than the hospital, and was wondering if this would include actual images. I've been on hold for 25 minute to GP practice, as it's a Monday...

    Not exactly.

A friend got some X-Rays from their dentist, after a struggle, and they looked like badly taken photographs of traditional film X-Rays on a light box! Presumably had the X-Rays been digital they would have been better images. They were, eventually emailed.

Our local (huge) hospital will provide, for example, a CD / DVD of an MRI scan along with special software that allows you to view it. That will only run on Windows and the friend that wanted it only had a Mac, which is how I got involved.

Unless you have expert knowledge then neither was of much use, other than to show to another dentist or radiologist.

My MRI came with a disc that if you put it into a windows machine it loaded up a viewer with controls to go through the images. The images ultimately were on the disc though and was able to access them from my Mac (obviously dont know if its the same or different software).

I had the reverse problem though... the MRI was done privately and the NHS doc wanted a copy so took the disc... images were added to my records, allegedly, but never got the disc back. I'd backed up a copy on my computer so not a major issue.

The OP's circumstances aren't clear if they want a report and the images for themselves or to pass on to the GP or why they want the report and/or images.
