It might be a bit of a wait, but hold on until Black Friday when ps plus is 25% cheaper. Use amazon or other legitimate source to buy the key which can be redeemed in your psn shop. PS plus is a way to go as not only you will get some free games each month, a lot of popular games require you to have PS plus in order to access missions, campaigns, multiplayer mode, etc.

So I’m thinking of spending £50 for a year’s membership to pay plus next month.
someone told me it better after June as it’s combined with something else and now you get 2 free ps4 games per month and one ps5
so is it bets to have a PS5 or is it still worth it with a PS4?
I've been a subscriber for the Essentials package (the basic one) for 4 and a half years now, and I think is a great way to save on games. In general, we get three games each month - one for PS4, one for PS4 and PS5; and one for PS5. Though new releases can make the roster, most of the offerings will be like 7-12 months old or more at that point. On average, I'd say 1/3 of the months are duds, but sometimes they do seem to read my mind lol I was just about to get Nioh 2 and voila - it's in this month's lineup!
However, this is important to note: if you don't have a PS5 (like me), you won't be able to claim the free PS5 game for that month while browsing the PS Store via your console. To do so, log in to your PSN account with a PC (head to the PS Store), and manually claim each of them (it's a habit you need to develop soon). Other than that, enjoy your subscription!
