I agree it has to be recognised that he has the ability to get a Lidl veg box. My nearest Lidl at the moment is a 12 mile round trip, but hopefully the one thats being built opposite my nearest asdas about a mile away will do the same sort of thing I'm looking forward to seeing what they have once they open in a couple of monthsmumtoomany said:Really good youtube link. Atomic shrimp often does these eat for very little type challenges. But, and i don't want to take anything away from his great efforts, without the lidl box for £1.50 and if he had no choice of supermarkets, or even no supermarket at all, he could not have achieved this. Also for his £5 he made 14 meals, 35p a meal! So I don't thing 30p a meal can be done, regularly. Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xx
But I did like the way he not only made stuff but used things up and thought in advance of what he could use perhaps for the next meal. The veggie rosti's looked nice and also the 'french' onion soup.he was quite honest about the taste of what he had made and if he wasn't keen he said why. personally I wasn't keen on the sausages but then my one 'luxury ' is 'gloscester old spot' sausages which I buy 20 for £10 from Dobbies deli near to me. Expensive
but oh so nice and extremely filling and tasty 97% pork.. Interesting to show what you could 'forage' for if you lived in an area where there was long walks in woodlands. I too don't think I would eat anything off the beaches by Netley either

We have a Lidl but I've never seen any of their cheap veg boxes in there. I suspect it may only be certain branches. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.7 -
When I lived in a town that had a Lidl I only saw the veg boxes occasionally. They were opposite the end of the tills. None of the ones I saw looked as good as the one in the video.4

when I worked in Ashfield the cafes etc (including ASDA and a couple of the pubs) were incredibly cheap - far more so than the southern part of Notts1

The only thing that springs to my mind that would probably come in under 30p is potato & onion soup. One large red onion (tastier than white) - sauted in oil, two medium sized spuds, one Aldee's Quix-o stock cube, a good shake of dried sage (from the garden - I grow it and dry what I can't use in the growing season) and some salt'n'pepper, boiling water.I use a soupmaker to make just under a litre, and it does the two of us for a dinner, if served with a couple slices each of HM bread.I don't have the exact monetary breakdown, but even allowing for the bread (bread flour's gone up lately) it's still probably about 30p per person.Wouldn't want to have to live on it though; it'd soon get boring. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)5

I think it's down to what is available. I've managed to time it right a couple of times but it doesn't seem to be a regular time. My sister asked in her local Lidl and was told it depended what staff were available to make up the boxes.elsien said:We have a Lidl but I've never seen any of their cheap veg boxes in there. I have to say that the box he had in the video was far bigger and with far better quality food than either of the boxes I've managed to get!

The Lidl boxes I have seen are odds and sods, the contents do not look good.No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.2 -
I've wondered same thing. 2-3 times now over the course of around a week, I called in my nearest Lidl within 5-10 mins of them opening. I looked all around the store on each occasion. They didn't have any.elsien said:We have a Lidl but I've never seen any of their cheap veg boxes in there. I suspect it may only be certain branches.

In the store I've seen them at, they were always after the tills, which I found so illogical.February wins: Theatre tickets3
