     Debt Free - 04/03/23.  Total LBM August 2021 £15410.70

  • June has been a crazy expensive month between Father's Day, big birthdays and a load of DIY needing done. It's all but wiped out any savings and my emergency fund, but on the plus side I've discovered V*nted - I've over 100 items to list and sold a fair few.

I bought a pack of 200 mailing bags online, I have an ink subscription for my home printer and a ream of paper so I'm a woman on a mission with selling, de cluttering and not holding onto pretty clothes I'll never fit into.

I'm feeling much better knowing that all the bits and bobs I've bought lately has been cash and even dipping into savings is better than using credit.

    Hope everyone is doing well.

    Debt free date June 2026

  • Life has been crazy busy lately so I've neglected my diary somewhat.

Paid off nearly £5k so far which I'm so happy about, however one of my creditors decided that since I can pay more than the minimum payment that they'll start adding interest again. Spoke to Stepchange who have re-jigged my payments, resulting in another creditor rejecting the new amounts even though it's higher than the original amount they accepted.

The smallest debt is £220, and since they've just defaulted me I'll wait until it goes to DCA and try offering a F&F.

I hope everyone is well x

    Hi @Lemonade_budget,

You've made a brilliant start!! £5k is incredible. I didn't realise that creditors could reject amounts. I thought once Stepchange made the arrangements, that was you sorted.

Good luck with it! We'll all be cheering you on!!  <3

I was the same - especially with it being increased amounts compared to before. Stepchange did say they'll just keep sending the payments. I'm still wondering if I'd have been better stopping payments to those who haven't yet defaulted me but it's done now.

For now I'll just keep plodding on and making payments every month, selling what I can in the meantime.

Yep - that's all you can do. One day at a time, see what you're able to do. I definitely feel like I've turned a huge corner in that I haven't been tempted to spend on credit for anything. So if I do nothing but make my minimum payments, I'm always going be better off that last month, each and every month!
