Hi guys.
Sorry if this has been asked before. I was discharged from my Bankruptcy 22/4/2022.
Sorry if this has been asked before. I was discharged from my Bankruptcy 22/4/2022.
However all debts that haven’t passed the 6 year anniversary of the default are still showing on my credit file as ‘open’ and includes an amount owed.
Should I be getting in touch with these companies to ask why they have not marked the accounts as settled on the basis the bankruptcy wipes these debts clean.
I regularly check my credit file on ClearScore and Credit Karma, I know they aren’t the most updated sites but still should be showing the debts as settled I would of thought?

Sent an email to Lowell today to ask them to update the records they hold, I’m not expecting them to do so, if they don’t, is there anything further I can do to force them to update them to update the amounts or accounts as settled/partially settled
I’m guessing my best course of action would be to issue a Notice of Correction on my file? And patiently await the defaults to drop off my file, them dates being sooner than the 6 year anniversary of my bankruptcy0 -
Ultimately you can escalate the matter to the ICO, although its the bankruptcy itself that causes credit issues, how the debts are marked on your file doesn't really matter that much, its going to be 6 years till any real improvement is felt anyway.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Had a response from Lowell Debt yesterday in relation to the email I sent requesting them to update the debts they hold,
the response I received was longer than it needed to be, basically stating the debt records are held by a partner company and although they can’t remove them, they can update them as partially settled,
I usually check my credit score with ClearScore, and had a recent notifications of improvements, when I checked all accounts are to be ‘closed’ at the next update.Understandably, I won’t feel the benefits of bankruptcy until the 6 year anniversary but in the meantime I can keep an eye on my credit file and make inquiries and/or request incorrect data to be removed, also enable me to improve my credit score by getting a credit building credit card.1
