Just received my renewal for my Home and Contents insurance (RSA) and it has more than doubled in price since last year. There have been no claims and no change in cover.
Has anyone else experienced the same massive hike in  premium? Any recommendations for companies with reasonably priced home insurance for NI customers?

Just shop around...............every renewal time......you don't get any favours for loyalty.

Just google 'house  insurance' and compare the market sites

I'd exactly the same thing last year, my renewal quote was 2.5x the previous year despite no claims. I just shopped around and ended up with a small increase in premium which is probably fair given increases in the cost of building materials

I normally do the comparison site thing and also direct line and Aviva as they don't appear on those website.
I compare like with like and then go back to my current insurer to see what they can do with price - they normally move on price at this point when you have the right ammo and they know you have done your research.

Thanks for the replies. I always shop around and then go back to my broker but no joy this time. Most quotes via the comparison site still show a sizeable hike and the cheapest ones are from firms I have never heard of like Locket and Getsafe.

Direct Line and Aviva are both double (and more) what I paid last year.

Ours doesn't come due until August... but it actually reduced last year. Have to see what happens this year (M&S)

I have just renewed my home and contents insurance and it has almost doubled in a year. Checked various comparison sites but couldn’t get anything cheaper. I wasn’t able to get any explanation as to why the large increase as nothing has changed since last year and I’ve had no claims.

It could be down to others in your postcode making claims.

Ours came down by a little over 18%, this year. Postcode lottery.
