Getting teaching qualifications while keeping main job

A friend wants to become a part-time tutor to boost his income but doesn't have any teaching qualifications or experience (other than one-year home tutoring overseas). He has a full time job that he wants to keep. This means he can't study or work in schools for PGCE because it requires working in schools during daytime. Is there a way for him to achieve QTS ( qualified teacher status) by studying or working in evenings or weekends while maintaining his day job?
For info, he has a STEM degree and hopes to teach maths or physics.
Thanks for any help

You can do courses where you are paid a wage look at schools direct. There are also large bursaries for stem coursesAll courses require placements so would be impossible to hold down a full time job.1
