Identity Fraud

in Loans
Someone opened an account with Sainsbury's Bank fraudulently in my name. They took out a loan of £25K. I have contacted Sainsbury's Bank and they have acknowledged this was fraud. Therefore they agree that I am not liable for the loan.
I have no idea how the scammer convinced Sainsbury's Bank that they were me and live at my address.
Do I need to do anything else to protect myself?
Thanks

Hopefully your user name isn't your real name - otherwise it's pretty clear to see how someone would have been able to get enough details about you to pass a credit check.
You should consider a protective CIFAS marker and be protective of your own data.12 -
When you see things like this -
"its our 10th anniversary on Facebook, and were giving away a car to a random stranger who types "LIKE"
Just scroll on bye, you won`t be getting a car, its how scammers get your information.

Yes you should protect yourself. Here a few tips, I hope help
Check your credit reports with all 3 Credit Agencies (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion).
Consider:
The Solution To Identity Fraud - The AntiSocial Engineer Limited
MyPAS - The AntiSocial Engineer Limited
Or
Password Protect your files
OR
CIFAS Protective Registration.
Hope this helps.0 -
There is lots of Identity fraud online.
I would advise not to use your real name when signing up to websites, and also use a mail forward address when receiving post/parcels.0 -
And all those chain posts on Facebook:
my first car
my school
street I grew up on
First pets name
all ways of getting info out of people. Just ignore.0 -

And, as zx81 says above, using your real name, especially on forums like this, is not a good idea. See info in this link -
