Possible Bank of England Base Rate Increase?

I received an email from Halifax today saying "The Bank of England Base Rate has changed today." along with the usual what this means stuff. However, I couldn't find anything to back this up and just thought oh well, yet another rise. However, a few hours later I receive another email from Halifax saying "Sorry, we made a mistake. The Bank of England base rate has not changed today, the next scheduled Bank of England announcement is Thursday 5th May at midday. If a change is announced we'll be in touch to let you know how it affects you."
I wonder, do they know something we don't, was this email sent out too early? Will the base rate go up again this Thursday?
We will see...

If I was a betting man, I would say it is going up.
I have been told by 2 lenders that they are expecting the base rate to be 1.5% by August and potentially 2% by the end of the year.
Assuming the 1.5% is correct, there needs to be 3 x 0.25% rate rises in the next 4 months.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. All expectatations are for a rise tomorrow with more to follow. The higher the US Federal Reserve goes, the greater the pressure on other Central Banks around the globe.1

We got the same email.
Odds are there will be a rate rise tomorrow so Halifax have just got the correspondence ready early and someone has managed to send it out early.1 -
99.9% chance of an increase tomorrow.
Some lenders have already increased mortgage rates.

Hi all,
yes the rate went up to 1% which will affect tracker mortgages and new applications etc
what are peoples thoughts in 2-4 years time. What do you think average mortgage rates will be then? Around 4%?1 -
5 year fixed rates are marginally cheaper than 2 year fixed rates with some lenders. 2 years would seem to expect rate rises, 4 years, maybe levelled out or even slight drops.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
