affordable solar pv

Options
Hi ive recently been browsing the internet gathering information and prices of solar pv systems, although I recognise the government cannot afford to restart the solar grants or give money away to the public who cannot afford the initial outlay of solar pv, surely the obvious answer would be for the government to offer some sort of short term 0% finance loan to facilitate joe public to be able to aspire to afford such systems, especially with their carbon reduction targets looking increasingly difficult?
Am i missing something ?

The only other possible avenue is to see if your local authority has any grants available but there's usually certain criteria you need to meet like household income and EPC rating.

The govt does not like the thought of power from the people.

Self consumed energy does not count towards GDP so in their eyes reduces growth.
You wont sell shares in your PV installation so how can an MP or their mates benefit?
You wont spend money to lobby MPs: offering tickets to sports events etc etc.  I suspect major energy companies do although I've not researched any proof.
I can't remember her name but the minister responsible for scrapping FIT found it offensive that people considered this as an investment.  I wonder if this is the same for EDF, Centrica etc.

Consider Ripple as a bite size alternative?

It comes down to where you live. London boroughs don't provide anything. Until 31/3, Somerset, Cornwall and Dorset provided free solar to anyone earning <£30K p.a. living in an inefficient home.

Frankly, the payback ROI on rooftop solar is < 7 years now. When the 25 year warranty on all components is considered, only the most cynical can afford to dismiss it.

    -  Viessmann 200-W on Advanced Weather Comp. (the most efficient gas boiler sold)

I think I would say can be < 7 years as it depends on circumstances.
