    Which figure to use has been debated on this forum before without any firm conclusion. Also if the normal retirement age was 65 ( as is more typical ) then the Multiple would work out less and probably nearer to what is usually seen , a figure in the low thirties.
    In any case the Multiple is just a rule of thumb type figure for easy comparison and as you have detailed there are a lot more issues in play.
