NI class 2 voluntary contributions and ceasing childcare credits

My wife has been getting childcare NI credits for a number of years. Our youngest child turned 12 on 28th April 2021, so I believe this means she will no longer get NI credits from that point on.
She wants to pay voluntary class 2 contributions (she is self employed and her income and profit is c£2k pa).
From what I can tell she has to do this via her self assessment tax return. However when we try to do this for the 2021 - 2022 tax year on the HMRC site it says she owes zero for NI contributions and doesn't allow her to select pay voluntary contributions as the amount showing as owing for NI is zero.
Very strange but I wonder if it's because they don't know our child is no longer under 12? Anyone know if that's the reason and how I tell them? I cannot find anything abou this on the website or Google searching.

It's almost certainly because she is only registered as self employed for Self Assessment purposes but isn't registered as self employed for National Insurance purposes*
She needs to fix that and then go back to the Self Assessment return.

* whether this should actually be an issue is a different matter but the fact is that at the moment it is.1 -
That's great, thanks very much.0
