I was on the gov.uk web site trying to claim a tax refund. After filling the forms on line somehow a company has got involved. The first I heard of it was when a letter from HMRC tells me they have sent my refund to this company. I was shocked I have never heard of them, when I tried to contact them they have no telephone no, or email address. You can contact them by doing a google search and filling out a form asking what is going on did that five times, never answered. has anyone had a similar situation. j

Did you fill in a Self Assessment on the HMRC website, that would provide you with a tax calculation for the year, currently that would be 2021-22/ Mine showed a refund of £nnn was due. I later had to sign in and claim the refund.
Unfortunately of you used the G search engine or have browser helping toolbars, these would direct you away from the real site into the hands of services that could help you. They take money from you!
Actual website is.
Claim a tax refund - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

It's the wrong board for this issue.
I guess you weren't actually on gov.uk website and used one of the 'value-add' companies.
Do you know what website you used?
They exist for passport renewal, driving licences, GHIC (was EHIC), Land Registry - you name it, there'll be a website to charge you more than the 'proper' amount.0 -
