So, I started off as an office junior in the NHS and made it to office general manager after some twists and turns.
I'm off to the Primary Care sector as I decided that a change was needed so I'll be employed by a PCN so not completely diverting away from the NHS but I'll be employed by the PCN.
Feeling very anxious, excited, apprehensive and worried if this doesn't work out what next?! I am 50 next year as well.
Anyone left a large organisation like the nhs after such a long time? looking for some reassurance here as I know of nobody who has done the same.

I'm 45, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, and I've left the NHS after 24 years to start at a GP practice. First day tomorrow and I'm very nervous but looking forward to the challenges that it will bring. It was a big decision when I was considering annual leave and sick pay allowance as these will drop significantly however they do offer NHS pension.enzolondon1 said:So, I started off as an office junior in the NHS and made it to office general manager after some twists and turns.

It may or may not be the right decision but I needed to move on from where I was and I can always look for jobs back within the NHS if it doesn't work out.
Good luck xx0
