Just an Idea - Pensioners General Forum

I am approaching retirement and like many before me I am trying to make decisions about many aspects of retirement.
I think it would be a great Idea to create a new forum where pensioner and those approaching pension could ask any questions they have.
I am aware that the is a Pensions form (and it is great for information about pensions and planning) but I am also aware that the are many other issues that affect pensioners are not really addressed.
Is it just me or does anyone else think this would be a very helpful forum to have access to?

I'm not sure that there would be enough demand / interest in such a forum. MSE has been trying to rationalise and cut the number of fora, rather than open more.
Have you looked at over 50s moneysaving? It may do some of what you are looking for.
I know what you mean though. I did my sums, resigned a year ago and very quickly realised I wasn't ready to retire - taking a part/time job. Having the finances in place is only one part of retirement. The adjustment and psychological aspects also need considering.0 -
I think it would be a great Idea to create a new forum where pensioner and those approaching pension could ask any questions they have. There is not a lot of traffic in this section and having a specific forum for retirement planning for a certain age group when its already covered by this section is probably not worth it.
The auto-enrolment forum was a ghost town for years as the regulars rarely took a look at it and threads would often go unread and questions unanswered. It took years to get MSE to close it.I am aware that the is a Pensions form (and it is great for information about pensions and planning) but I am also aware that the are many other issues that affect pensioners are not really addressed. What other issues are you referring to? There is rarely a thread that doesn't lead to multiple responses in this section.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Plenty such sites already exist e.g. https://www.pensionersforum.co.uksgx2000 said:I am approaching retirement and like many before me I am trying to make decisions about many aspects of retirement.

Is it just me or does anyone else think this would be a very helpful forum to have access to?Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -
Amongst all the stuff about pensions, drawdown , there are regular comments about life in retirement, when to retire , issues around retirement etc Such as this one ( over 500 pages )sgx2000 said:I am approaching retirement and like many before me I am trying to make decisions about many aspects of retirement.

Problem with this forum is that there is only about one post a day .0
