Well yes, but flat panels hardly seems an ideal layout.gefnew said:Like this maybe. Not ideal, but not as terrible as all that.PVGIS suggests, at roughly my location, panels at optimum slope (40 deg.) will get me 1.03kWh/yr/Wp while horizontal ones will make 0.86kWh/yr/Wp. That's a 16.5% loss vs. optimal.Even vertical-but-south-facing panels make 0.74kWh/yr/Wp, which is more than I expected. Now I'm wondering about wall-hung panels ...N. Hampshire, he/him. EV Puzzle on YouTube had vertical ones put on his east facing wall and they seem to work well.QrizB said:Reed_Richards said:

Flat roof panels will also need cleaning since debris may stick before rain can wash it off. I think leaves can cause generation issues if they stick to enough cells.QrizB said:Reed_Richards said:

I've always been a fan of vertical PV panels. they solve the problem for folk who don't have a roof, or suitable roof, and whilst gen is lower, they do have a strong winter bias which helps economically. But ...... unless anything has changed, wall mounted PV does need PP too!
How about BIPV, building integrated PV (very old article):The school with the largest solar facade in the world
