Intrum UK Finance

Hi Intrum UK finance have purchased a credit card debt approx £10,000 balance and a large personal loan with a balance of £21,000 from Tesco bank. They purchased this back in January. They have been contacting me regularly and I have been advised to ignore all contact on another well known forum which I am in. I have been doing this but they are now starting to get more threatening with their letters. Their last one stated they were thinking of taking court action if I did not contact them. Just wondering what other people's thoughts are on this? I know different forums have different approaches so I am just trying to research all avenues. I also have another account with PRA originally a Barclaycard account. I have not paid anything or had responded to them in nearly a year. This has been passed over to Moorcroft at the moment who send me the odd letter but that's about it. The CCA on the PRA account was said to be unenforceable when I asked Di and sent it in to the AAD forum. PRA however are insistent they have provided the correct paperwork and that it is enforceable. I appreciate i am asking a lot of questions here so apologies if I have gone about this the wrong way.

We know Di from AAd and respect her. She used to post here but was targeted by trolls and I haven't noticed her for a bit. If Di says that one is unenforceable then she will help you word your defence should PRA start a court claim.

As for the Intrum debts, what is the plan there? Specifically what are you planning to do if/when they start a court claim?

Generally our advice would be along the lines of

    1. Don't engage until they write. When they do, send a prove-it.
    2. If they can prove it's your debt, then post an soa here and we'll help you work out your best strategy for dealing with it.

  • Hi it's the intrum debts I am more worried about and confused on the best way forward. The loan was only taken out online in 2016 so I can't see them having too much trouble in complying with the correct paperwork on this one. The credit card was taken out in 2004 so I possibly have more chance with this one. I was regularly paying Tesco Bank for the loan around £50 a month and never missed a payment so I wasn't expecting it to be sold on that easily. I sent an SAR direct to Tesco Bank via recorded delivery on Tuesday so that may give me a little more info (not that I really know what I am looking for). I know intrum UK finance are not FCA registered or so I have been told but I'm not sure how this really helps if they take court action. I'm not really sure in the best way forward with this one, I don't really want to go through court or risk CCJ's and also worry about losing my home if they put a charge on it.

I don`t know who told you to ignore them and hope they will go away, that`s not always a good plan, there appears to have been a spate of legal action taken just lately, if you don`t want to risk a CCJ as you say, then your current strategy may be floored.

Companies don`t always take legal action, and some accounts do get left to their own devices and are forgotten about, however, that`s not the case every time, I`d go with the advice from fatbelly to avoid judgements you don`t want.

Starting from the end, a charging order (if it comes to that) does not mean that you would lose your home. If you live in it then a judge would be unlikely to agree with such an order.

But that's a long way down the road.

You could do a cca request on Intrum on both debts - at least you would then know if they have copies of your agreement

Post a statement of affairs (link is to a calculator) and people will make suggestions.
  • Ok so next step is to send a CCA request? I assume i need to send 2? One for each account? I guess the SAR I have sent to Tesco Bank will also show up some information. Is there a prove it letter template on here somewhere? Thanks to you both for the help.

Sticky section (clearly marked by me) can be found at the top of this forum, and contains all template letters etc.
