Hi Guys,
very happy today as I have officially been discharged and although debts are effectively written off at the point of going Bankruptcy. My understanding is they are officially written off once discharged? Please correct me if I am wrong.

Anyway, the main question I wanted to ask, now I am discharged, do my old creditors now have a timeframe where they must mark the debt as ‘settled’ or show a Zero balance. I know the actual debt/marker/default stays on there until the 6 year anniversary. But wondered if they are updated to show its as settled.

I think it depends on the company and their procedures. I had a DRO and most of my creditors marked the account "closed" pretty much straight away of it being granted, but there were a couple I still had to chase up after my moratorium ended.

Thanks,
my official discharge date is today, 22/4/2022 so I am going to leave it a couple more weeks then if they are still showing an amount outstanding I will get in touch with them.A lot will disappear within the next couple of months anyway as they have nearly hit the 6 year anniversary of the default0 -

I was so happy yesterday that I have made to the other side haha, there has been times over the last 12 months I’ve worried about the bankruptcy and 2nd guessed whether it was the correct route to go down. Looking at it now, I can categorically say yes it was. Anyone else reading this, having 2nd thoughts or is worried about submitting their application. Do it! It doesn’t change much in your life in terms of living your life, granted there are a few cut backs in spending but nothing extreme I didn’t think. And It may seem daunting especially having to have an interview over the phone, I was shaking like a leaf when I had to speak to them. But the person I spoke to was soo friendly and polite. they aren’t there to try and trip you up. They are there to help and are just following procedures. They are human just like you and me.TinyPomegranate said:Well done Mart for getting through!
