council Tax Band changed from C to E

I bought my property in 2012, Band C. In the summer of that year we decided to holiday let and we’re out on SBRR. now we are living in the property it has come back as Band E!
I’ve called VOA and they did the find a similar property routine. I tried to say why do I need to prove anything when i first owned it you rated it Band C, but I’m confused as to what to do next. it passes on the nationwide reversionary calculator but she said they use the Land Registry own system. I live in a village and the property I live in is quite hard to compare to any others. Any help appreciated.

You can challenge the decision to put you in the more expensive bracket. And people do win, too. I've seen some posts on here.

Even when you live in a village (as do I) you have a local council. So you need to contact them. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Although I do carry out careful research before posting and never intend to mislead or supply out-of-date or incorrect information, please do not rely 100% on what you are reading. Verify everything in order to protect yourself as you are responsible for any action you consequently take.0 -
No point in contacting the council as suggested above as they have nothing to do with CT banding.
You need to make a formal appeal if you have not already done so and are within the 6 months time limit. Had alterations been carried out by a previous owner or did you carry out alterations when the property was a holiday let, as either of these can lead to an increased band. There is a further possibility that the original Band C was too low or it may be just that the VOA have made a mistake in banding.
All house price indices are inaccurate, so do not rely on their calculations.
Look at which properties are Band C in your village and which are Band D and E, it will give you an idea of the likely correct band. Also look at neighbouring villages are there any similar properties to yours?
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
