If approved for a loan. What documents may they ask for?

I’m a little worried as I have been on maternity leave for a year, with no pay for the last 3 months (ended this month and now back at work).
My husband has been paying most of our bills for the last 3 months due to this.
Bank statement will show his full wages going in but I’m worried what they might make of the outgoings 🙈

He’s made a loan application & im a bit worried they will ask for bank statements and take from those that he has a lot of outgoings? The main one of £1,700 to our joint account cover all of our bills/shopping/fuel etc for the last 3 months.

Obviously from the 15th of this month we go back to our original agreement of splitting bills 50/50.

Might this have an effect? Is he able to declare this to them?

Thanks in advance

  • It varies by lender. They may ask for statements if you're applying outside of mainstream lenders but it's not usual.

If they doubt your application, payslips are more likely to be asked for.

    He’s applied to Ratesetter.

Do you know if it will it be a problem that he’s been paying all bills for the last 3 months?

As I’ve said, I’m back to work this month and would be able to get a letter from them confirming this.

Thanks so much for your reply.
