@mum2many I use mushrooms in omelette, Chinese noodles, pies including shepherd's pie and on toast. I too have a fussy eater husband so often chop them very small to sneak them into meat dishes to bulk them out. I chop any that I am not using straight away and flat freeze them before bagging them up to use in any dish that needs mushrooms. No blanching needed. They are not as good as fresh on toast but in everything else they are fine.
I have to admit to another £4.00spend on potato's and bread. 🤦♀️. I think that I have really underestimated this month. Its really not looking good. 😕craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £25.96 spent, 128 made and 5 mended,

Thanks for the ideas, will get looking at the links. @Soontobeoap, it's son in law who's the fussy one, not OH. OH is well trained and eats anything. But as we all live together at the moment, me, OH, DD1, DSiL1, DD3, and three grandchildren, I have to try to cater for them all, or just put up with the moaning. Used my time wisely whilst LG was at their club to pick up several bits and pieces in HB and MrA. Notable YS'd purchases were easy peelers for 50p instead of £1.19 in HB, for 7 big fruits and; 2 punnets of plums for 24p each in MrA, 5 fruit in each punnet. One punnet will definitely make a cake/sponge pudding as the plums are ripe and the other punnet will keep, so we'll see how they ripen (if). Managed to get my fruit for well under 10p per piece, which I always recall was Weezl's target price back in the "Cheap Family Recipes" days......😊
Frozen beans (green and broad), sultanas, eggs and crisps were the other purchases. Can't believe I have spent over half my budget and we're only on day 3 of the month.......

£67.49 spent between A&C delievery Monday and Mr S shops.
£5 on toilet roll for the month (who gives a !!!!!! 6 pack. We find these last us a month on average even with using some in place of facial tissue which can add up with hayfever)
£4.50 was on 30 double razor blades (these were the ones he prefers to get and were on clearence! They will last OH a long time; no joke to say many years of blades).
£6.50 on anti-perspirant for OH (should be a couple months at least and was on offer).
£7.50 my deodorant (on offer and should last 3 months or more, not too bad in my honest opinion).
So of the spend so far £23.50 was on toiletries. Most of which will last more than just for May. I can't really complain about that even if a good chunk of the months budget has already gone.
£67.49/£170.50.
£103.01 left.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy7 -
Hi I would love to join.
I am fascinated at the statements in the 1st post especially regarding- 2 Adults: The average weekly food bill for 2 adults would be around £86 in total—£57 spent on the weekly food shop and £29 spent on food out.
- as this applies to me.
good luck all

Plugged my smart meter monitor in yesterday, just out of interest to cooking 4 hrs on dehydrate in my ninja, seemed reasonable.
I have always turned my t.v. off on the set, but left everything else, I have a power block with lap top plugged in 2 chargers and my magnifying mirror, in my bedroom I have the chargers again, when my meter was displaying it was usually about 48p first thing, covers all things that run 24/7 too, I have started turning off the power block when going to bed, and turning off the socket where my chargers are connected, in my bedroom as my phone and kindle charge while watching t.v. in bed, this morning my meter was reading 26p.
Copied this from my post on Frugal fuel tips thread, might interest a few.Do I need it or just want it.6
