They are a cross between a nice swimming baths, fascist corporate workplace and the lodge in Twin Peaks. (oh, and a bar , often selling overpriced food...think £11.50 for fishfinger sandwich with mayonniase and tiny salad dressing and balsamic)Frith said:I've reached this great age without having a clue what a country club is!3 -
It might possibly work if the underlying premise is that the protagonist sits at home all day with nothing much to do otherwise. Even if tea / coffee / soft drinks are free, in squeezing out value from gym memberships most people realise there just aren't enough hours in the day to get everything done and spend time "at leisure".
