Go you!! Well done in resisting the BF sales... I had a girls shopping trip and had saved up to splurge but ended up hardly buying anything as I didn't feel the deals were actually any good.
It's a great feeling being in control of your finances and even better when you come in under budget

Realised the other day that I've been debt free for over a year now, as it was end of November 2021 when I made the final settlement on my IVA.
Finally got another two creditors to correct the default date on my file, and one also sent me £25 for the inconvenience so that was nice. There's still one that has a different default date, but it only shows on one CRA and is only two weeks behind the IVA date so not too fussed about that. The company went into administration anyway so nothing I can do.My debt-free diary: Go your own way

FollowingNoticed a suggested post about a cashback CC or BC Avios CC....interestingly I have a BC Avios CC now and making it work for me! I went through their eligibility checker direct and was pleasantly surprised......If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can't, you won't.

Out mortgage application is likely to be around March 2024, so if I can get a more prime CC in March 2023 then marvellous, but if not I won't be doing any more credit applications until we're on the housing ladder, leaving 12 months clear of hard searches. My debt-free diary: Go your own way

Well that's 2022 done with, and my whole year was debt free.
Probably the first year since before I went to uni just over 20 years ago that I've not had some sort of debt hanging over me.
December became a bit more expensive than I thought for going out, but not horrendously so, and the car MOT came in under expectations so that was a good balance.
I have saved a total of £3,792.18 towards a house deposit this year, which I'm really pleased with. I also saved for holidays in addition to that. I have joined the save £12k in 2023 challenge and have got my savings accounts and budget all set out.
Here's to another 12 months of being debt free and financially resilient.

Happy New Year! Congratulations on making a whole year debt free, that’s awesome!
I am hoping to be debt free soon and was also looking at the ‘save £12k’ thread but I think it’s out of my reach for this year. Good luck with your saving!LMD xLife gets in the way...PADding is addictive...Saving's better than spending...My savings diary - Now for a healthier, wealthier me2025 1p challenge #41 | Cash envelope challenge #01 | SPC #017Sealed pot 2025 £5678 | EF £1000/£1000 | Sabbatical £3188/£6000 | Travel savings £1924 | Sinking pots £21260 -
Happy New Year 🥳!
great progress in 2022 and I reckon it will be even better for you in 2023!
I too will be taking part in the £12k challenge this year, with house prices only slightly declining in certain areas and mortgage rates at an all-time high since the noughties, it’s best to put down as big a deposit as poss!If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can't, you won't.
