I claimed online through my personal tax account for WFH tax relief for 21/22.  I have received a letter from HMRC stating my tax code has changed and payment will be sent to Brookdale, who I have never heard of.  Now Brookdale have contacted me and will deduct £17.07 from my £32.83 claim and now require my bank details.
How has this happened?  When I claimed for 20/21 I received the funds through my salary.  I do not want to give this company my bank details.
I have emailed them on the email address they contacted me with, but it has bounced back.

Have you used a third party to make a claim on your behalf for any other tax allowance?

What exactly have you received to show a refund of £32.83 is due?

It is very early for any tax refund to be made direct by HMRC for 2021:22.

If you applied for the WFH tax relief too late in the year a new tax code, for 2021:22, would not be issued.

You really need to provide more details for anyone to understand what's happened.

Unfortunately their fees (48% including VAT) are clearly mentioned under their terms - paragraph 7 - Fees and Payment.

HMRC are following your instructions to make payment to them on your behalf. You instructed that to happen when you completed the form that that supplied. They have taken their payment for making the claim on your behalf and pay you the balance left.

Do not use these companies if you dot want to pay their fees.
