Statutory Sick Pay should equal Minimum Wage for the employed

Options
It seems that quite a lot of large profitable companies only offer a lot of their staff the legal bare minimum when it comes to sick pay, and I'm sure they think they can justify this with eyewatering sums of expenditure... but I'm sure their figures pale into insignificance compared to their annual profits.

Trying to encourage these employers to do the right thing by their employees is like banging your head against a brick wall... so instead of asking them to change their policies, why not get SSP itself changed?

Instead of the current £99ish a week... why not get employers to pay at least minimum wage for an employees average weekly hours for 28 days, then it drops to the lower rate of £99ish a week?
