car finance

i have a car on finance that I got in may 2020 and and have 3yrs left to pay it (just over £4k) it has now broken down and needs a new engine (cheapest quote ive had is £1100) which i just cant afford.  when  i bought the car i was married and the £145 a month was affordable as there where 2 wages coming in now I am living on my own i cant afford to have a car that I cant drive as i work 12miles away from work, my bills have doubled.to point that i have had to go through stepchange to pay off my loans and credit cards
is there any way that i can cancel the finance or had car back so i can get rid of the finance

  • i should also mention that i have severe clinical depression and other mental health issues which have been exasperated by the break up

No. The dealership won't want a broken car back. You'd theoretically be able to bring a s75 claim if you can provide the car was not as described at the time, but that's very unlikely to be a possibility after a year of driving it.

If your work is only 12 miles away, at least that gives other potential ways to get to work.
