Former Employer Wants Me Back?

You need to do a better analysis of what your current job gives you with work/life balance and what you need from the old job to make it better.
If working long hours regularly that is not great.
Can you trade long hours while away to get more consecutive days off.
Does the OH work, if not can you be away together at times if the areas you will work are suitable, might only be school hols with a kid.
If they can't get people they need to adapt the job to make it more attractive.
Money is not always enough.

Would working 4 days a week work, financially and personally? You might be able to negotiate a 4 day weekend every fortnight.#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3661

Thanks for everyone's answers and sorry its took so long to get back to people, just got back off holiday.
So I spoke to them and basically it would be the same as before which would be most weekends leaving on a Sunday at 1/2pm to travel to location ready for work on the Monday. At the moment from what it would look like I wouldn't get home until 7-9pm on the Friday night or later with traffic or any detours etc..
So I'd only really be home on a Saturday then leaving again on a Sunday which is no good. They did offer more money and the chance of management progression after 12 months which came with another pay rise, but that's a hard year to get through on the majority of it being home 1 day every 1 or 2 weeks.0 -
I've gone back to a previous employer a couple of times and it hasn't really worked out, so it is something to think about. As for this opportunity, it's really just a matter of whether you want to be away from or with the family......perhaps imagine yourself in 5 years time looking back - what advice would you give yourself?1
