Same PA in Scotland, they don't have powers to alter that, just the rates and rate bands for earnings/pension/rental income

Interest and dividends follow rest of UK rates.
The Scottish gov kind of does have the power to alter the PA by introducing a 0% band immediately above £12,570. I can’t imagine they will though, it would cost too much
  • They don't seem averse to making very small tweaks so you never know!

The (Scottish) starter rate of 19% only saved most people £20 when it first started and even know it's only worth £21.62.
  • Salary sacrifice is the best way to contribute to your pension because you save the NI as well as the tax. However, if your salary is modest you need to pay close attention to MX5huggy

As it’s Salary sacrifice your limit in contributions is likely to be making sure you still receive income equal to or over the National Minimum Wage which is £9.50 an hour or £19760 per year for a 40 hour week.
So, if you are earning 35k, that leaves room for adding 15k/yr to your pension. If you are earning 24k/yr, you are only able to salsac about 4k, which might not achieve what you are looking for. It's possible to open a SIPP too, and pay in the rest of your annual earnings (up to 80% of). You still get the tax relief, so it's still a good deal.
