Thanks all,
Really appreciated. We have a lot to consider!0 -

I will be ditching my gas and going electric as I've wanted to for a while, and when gas is 7.5p and electric on the cheaper rate is 7p then its cheaper to heat by electric.Reed0 -
I am confident that gas prices will not fall back, and with all of the wind in Scotland, I'm confident that we will retain a low cost electric period.
The idea of ev's taking all the excess overnight and causing a second peak doesn't stand up to scrutiny, and with more and more wind being built, I'm confident there will be more low cost periods (perhaps more like agile than go) that I can take advantage of.
Is it a risk? Yeah it is, but I don't think it's a fools risk.
I guess we will see whether I'm right or whether I'm a meringueWest central Scotland

Sorry to dredge this topic up.
I'm thinking of adding this to our hot water tank to maximise solar self consumption and reduce Oil usage.

Destrat pump to a hot water cylinder to maximise the solar power diverted from Solar PV. Our hot water tank has a single heating element and only heats the top part.“Don't raise your voice, improve your argument." - Desmond Tutu

The problem with a destratification pump is that it needs to be compatible with potable water. So a normal hot water recirculation pump would be fine but a central heating circulation pump would not.Reed1

Looks like this is going to cost upwards of 300
