Ooo also, found a receipt from 1999 in the back of the boiler when we were pulling it out. Oil litre price was 17.8p! Today it’s £1.12 a litre!

Oooh that's depressing! Our place has oil fired central heating ... not looking forward to filling up the oil tank!

We have come home to a ceiling and flooring in the bathroom. We can no longer see the roof from downstairs!

I thought it would be a good idea to empty the dogs room and hoover and mop the floor in there before they got home. It looked and smelled lovely - then we went to pick them up. Brought them home, they ran round the garden like crazy and then brought all the mud in. So that was great. But at least I know under the sofa (yes they have a sofa in their own room) is clean.

I may have mentioned (apologies if so!) but one of the main reasons we loved this house was the fact that the dogs would have their own room. It’s a random room off the utility and it’s like their little haven. No idea what you would use that room for otherwise!

paid the plumber yesterday which was £700 for the 3 days last week which we were happy with considering he ripped out a lot and did the first fix. We did have a quote just before Christmas but things have changed a bit since then which is why we were unsure of the price. We were happy with the original quote so knew it would be okay last week. Also phoned the suppliers and paid for materials this morning  £508.

I have quite the plan for today - have tested a paint colour on the kitchen floor for the utility. We’re moving the kitchen cupboards into the utility to save money so wanted to see the colour next to the cupboards. Yes a little ahead of myself but I like to dream! I bought the colour ages ago when I was buying other testers because it was a 3 for 2 deal.

going to try and take the utility floor out today as there looks to be some nice tiles under the horrible vinyl.

but I’m going to sit and watch the final episode of bridgerton cwtched up with the dogs first as I’ve missed them!

in good news I received a 25% pay increase after I complained about a gender pay gap issue. Once I know how much I’ll be getting monthly I’ll set up a dd to the renovation fund for the exact difference so I don’t spend it pointlessly!

I’ve just spent far too long cleaning clothes pegs that I left out all winter. My hands are now a rusty colour! But better than throwing out the plastic and buying new ones when they still work.

My lovely parents have said they’ll gift materials to us for the house - how wonderful are they? Not sure how much they’re going to spend, they just said to send them the invoices until they say stop. So that’s a lovely bit of news and will make the right budget spread so much further.

still no shower in this house, electrician has said he’ll come this evening to connect it so here’s hoping!

off to get some suppliers at lunch for my husband to give plastering a go. It’s only a small bit so I have faith in him! Will let you know how it goes over the weekend!

Well the cement is still on the wall and is drying out quite nicely! I’m really proud of DH. He was not a fan doing it in the end - found it really hard. Which is not a surprise as it is a skill that people learn and perfect through training and time. But for the little area we needed it’s great - will certainly be getting a professional in to do the rooms though 😂

I’ve spent two days trying to sort the garden a bit to make it nice for us for summer. No money spent except the water and electricity for the pressure washer - so probably quite a lot! Went through the shed and found loads of fairy lights and other nice things. It was like shopping for free!

hope you all have a lovely Easter and BH. We’ve started the day with (vegan) hot cross buns and some Easter egg! Roast at my parents this afternoon too.

Okay, have made a list of things to do for the immediate future.  Hopefully to be achieved by the end of the weekend.

    • Hang up coats in spare room (as our utility is now just a shell we have had to relocate everything)
    • Make spare bed (had visitors, bedding has been washed)
    • Reorganise utility wall cupboards (4 cupboards left in there, all that stuff needs to go somewhere before they can come out!)
    • Wash down utility walls (above needs to happen first, they are gross.  Will probably be replastered)
    • Sort boxes in attic & front room (boxes that have not been unpacked.  Some stuff we use, some we haven't looked at since moving)
    • Clean spare bathroom (the dust is incredible again!)
    • Sort spare bathroom items (emptied it into music room so towels, bath stuff etc needs putting in a cupboard)
    • Put washing away (why is this always on my list?)
    • Buy present for best friend (her birthday was February, very bad friend!)
    • Text electrician about new circuit board
    • Text builder to say we're ready when he is for the next part

Even though I have written my list (I am a big list in a notebook type of person), I feel if I write it here it'll keep me accountable too.

Glanced at out spending CC yesterday (which we pay off in full every month and use only for points) and it seems very very high.  Couldn't bring myself to look in detail as to why so need to do that too.  I hate spending.

Two more items done last night!  Pretty sure it's only because I wrote it here.  Just put washing in the machine so will have to add that back onto list later.

Still haven't looked at that CC bill...
