Fill a flask….

Boil the kettle once, use what you need at the time and fill a thermos flask for the next cuppa!

with a modern kettle you use energy = to the amount of water boiled,  so it makes no real difference if you boil one kettle with 3 cups of water, or boil it 3 times with 1 cup of water.

The trick is not to boil more water than you need and let the water go cold as boiling the same water multiple times is going to waste energy.

I have a massive cafetière which my husband makes before work and pops the rest in a flask for me to have through the day.

Can anyone recommend a flask that keeps water HOT overnight. I have multiple flasks , the larger ones work better but even those give me warm water at best after 8 or so hours. I would love to be able to take a flask up to bed so I can make a black coffee before I head downstairs . Taking a massive flask would be wasteful and still not work well , the tiny ones just mean I have warm water to drink which would not make nice coffee.

I have considered a travel kettle but there isn't really anywhere suitable to have one in the bedroom.

I bought this for my now late DM https://thermos.co.uk/light-and-compact350ml she was really happy to have a hot drink available whenever I went out.
Says 14 hours hot - I never tested this out but can say it had good retention.  Easy to use without having to unscrew the lid. I also bought another very small one (not the same make) for milk.

It saves a little bit of electricity because strangely a full kettle does boil a bit quicker that four quarter filled kettles. This assumes you don't waste any of your water from the flask, I'd consider putting in your washing up bowl is wasted.
I wouldn't be tempted to try it though as tea made with water that is not quite hot enough is awful.

Coffee made with warm water is vile too.
I just want to use a flask overnight for convenience, it saves MY energy which is often in short supply.

Some of the Thrmos brand flasks claim to keep water hot for 24 hours but they are expensive.

I find tea which has gone lukewarm is much nicer than tea made with luke warm water.  But nasty if it sits with milk in!  Would coffee made the night before work for you?
