Vanquis Fresh Start - Lowell.

Hi all,
I wonder if anyone has any advice for me?
I had an outstanding debt with Vanquis fresh start which was for two credit cards. They sold my debt to Lowell which I have been paying monthly. Then I received a letter from Vanquis to say that I no longer had to pay them and my debt had been put to zero. I called Lowell and they said I needed to pay them because they brought my debt. I also asked Lowell if I could make a one off payment and asked them if I paid off my debt in one go would the discount the debt and they said no. A couple of my friends have gotten discounts on their debts so I am a bit confused, I would be grateful for some advice.
Many thanks
Claire

You might find this article useful. Lowell are saying no to a discount because they think they can get more from you that way, depending on how much you pay they might offer discounts later on.
