Remortgage taking time

Options
I started looking at remortgages 8th Feb. The following week, Natwest reached out to me and we decided to go ahead. We had a video meeting 16th (preliminary checks), a chat with the mortgage advisor on the 19th, accepted 22nd Feb. Natwest appointed solicitors who contacted me on 22nd Feb. Surveyor came out 2nd March and submitted a valuation same day. After submitting paperwork via the solicitors portal, I’m sat twiddling my thumbs. I reached out to the solicitors who replied “we await your mortgage deed through the post”.

A bit frustrated as I’ve spent two months on SVR (fixed rate ended 1st March and Natwest told me it would be done by then).

How long should things take?

@d0nkeyk0ng Just to confirm the timeline, are you saying that the full app went in on the 22nd, a valuation was carried out on 2nd March and then there's been nothing at all (query, offer, etc.) for over a month now?

NatWest is slow at the moment but nowhere nearly as bad as above.

Or have you have had the mortgage offer and are talking about how long conveyancing is taking? In which case it *shouldn't* normally take this long in most remo cases.

Have you rung the NatWest?  More likely to know the cause of the delay than anybody on here.

I reached out to the solicitors who replied “we await your mortgage deed through the post”.

What do they mean by that? Do they think they've sent you the deed to sign and they're waiting for it to come back from you? Or do they mean they're waiting for a hard copy to come from the NatWest (seems unlikely these days)?

This. It’s all down to solicitors but didn’t realise it would be so slow.

There’s a mortgage deed thing that I had to sign, get witnessed, and send to HM Land Registry.

Eh? Who told you to do that? You send it back to the solicitors - they register it after the remortgage completes.

So the solicitor is waiting on the mortgage deed that you sent to the wrong place.

Get another copy of it, sign it, witness it and send it to the solicitor

I'm currenty going through with a remortgage application process with Natwest which coincedently is due to complete tomorrow.
With my case Natwest appointed the soilictor to complete the legals (Gordon Property Lawyers), if these are the same solicitors looking after your case then i assume you have completed their questionaaire through the solicitors online portal?  The mortgage deed I had to download it from the  portal, get it signed by a witness then post a hardcopy back to the solicitor, have you done this?
