Challenging my accountants fees after incompetency and poor service

Options
Our chartered account has sent us a bill we are very unhappy with.
We own a small hairdresser and were closed for 50% of last year. when back to work, we were given new and unqualified staff my private mail was sent to an address I hadn't lived at for 3 years tax returns were sent to, we had no advice or contact with the accountant we agreed to do business with. Our tax returns were done "before they looked at our spreadsheets !! We keep immaculate books and do all the work. Our personal tax bill was more last year than ever before. Thye estimated my business partners at £1200 when she asked had they looked at her spreadsheet they asked what spreadsheet? more incompetence. her tax bill then went up to 5.3k.
I don't believe we should have to pay them after the poor service we have had. We are leaving them.

If your books are "immaculate" and "you do all the work", why do you need an accountant?
Have you raised these complaints with the accountant?
If so and you are still dissatisfied, lodge a complaint with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (or of Scotland, if appropriate).

Find a new accountant. Our business accountants did our personal taxes 2 weeks before they were due, so we changed. Paid alot more but better service.

we received our tax bill 2 weeks before paying for them so around 14/1/22, that is cutting it very close for some and some of us need to liquidate assets to pay for them. Our tax bills are not exactly peanuts, but enough to pay for someone full time every year.
