Submitting Feed in Tariff Readings

Options
There's been a lot (a huge number) of posts about submitting your gas and electricity meter readings to ensure you're charged at the lower rate for all energy used up to today and aren't subject to estimated readings. I've not seen anything suggesting this for FIT readings. It's the opposite way round for us, it's worth getting that reading recorded or submitted today so that any generated electricity from today onwards is credited at the new rate that's 7.5% higher thanks to the RPI uplift.

Doesn't really compare to the 54% average bill increase but you might as well get the units paid at the correct rate.

I'm not going to bother looking for it but I'm sure that similar advice was given here around ten years ago.

As a result I started ending in 'extra' readings on Mar 31st and after a couple of years that became a normal end-of-quarter

My FIT providers (formerly nPower, now E.ON Next) only accept one reading a month, during four months of the year. The latest I could have submitted a reading in March was the 25th.

Left my FiT meter readings till yesterday (actually forgot), latest I've ever left it, and took over an hour to painfully get through each stage, and had to do it twice as I have two accounts. That'll teach me to forget, and have to fight through the crashed systems that then companies had yesterday.

That's interesting to know. Surprising how different each of the FIT providers processes are! British Gas initially didn't take my reading this morning with web error thrown up but on second try it went through.

Same here.. you would have thought if they were going to change our reporting date they would have moved it to the date of the rate change.

I submit mine to Good Energy. Slowest payers in the country I think. Submitted my reading on 18th March for payment around 8th June. Submitted another reading yesterday which through the app was instantaneous.

Have submitted a reading on March 31st for the last 2 years after I discovered that they always over estimated my production for the last 2 weeks of March. Always reading my meters on last day of month including generation meter so I could compare what I had been for.

Wonder what the RPI will be this December for April increase next year?

I used EDF - never have a problem, they send me a link to their web form every 1st of the month at the start of each quarter, I fill it in and get paid usually about a week later.  It's straightforward.  Only times I have had an issue was when I forgot once and missed a whole quarter, and I say problem, but I just submitted the reading when I got the next reminder and it was all paid very quickly, I just never got any reminders in between and I totally forgot.

Then I put the wrong date in once, chased about 2 weeks later as I hand;t been paid, they called me the next day, all sorted and paid within 48 hours.

If this isn't the norm for people I suggest you consider switching

It is RPI on fit rates. Always higher than CPI rate.

I don't know whether E.On Next (complete waste of time if you ask me as the new website seems to be a backward step compared to what we had before) will work the same as the old E.On site but on that you were required to give a 31 March reading along with the meter reading for your June payment.
