Loan payment reference

Hi, 
What is the loan payment reference?
 I supplied my loan account number to x but they are asking for my loan payment reference...is this the number that shows up next to the direct debit payment on my bank statement?

@TadleyBaggie yes but they state the loan agreement number not the payment reference.

How do you expect anyone to know the answer without giving the name of the loan company?

Better off giving the company a call directly.
