  • I meant to add, the dress I bought was brand new but heavily reduced from the Seasalt shop on Eb*y - definitely worth a look.

Jeans and vests from Matalan, leggings I get a year out of as I wear them a lot in good weather.
Sports bra type bra, regular and winter tights from Tesco.
    Pumps from s.direct.

Fancy clothes, suits, shoes and handbags I tend to see what's on eBay, used or unworn.

I also have a look round charity shops.

i had to bin my work clothes as too small after i put on a stone and half since April 2020.  I have not taken out my summer clothes since summer 2019. As i know they will be too small.  I have managed with all the clothes my sons left/abandoned  here.  The demin shirts work shirts and t shirts, jumpers and jeans together with jogging bottom and tracksuit bottoms boxer pants and socks have all lasted well and are still going strong.  I also have nice jeans and tops from one of their fiancees that they did not want.  I must have about 6 bags to go through but have just picked a few bits out and have not really sorted them out as now retired and only need about 3 or 4 outfits mix and matching. I have bought a couple of bras But only worn them a handful oF times as prefer not to wear one If i can get away with it. eg baggy shirt or jumper As I am quite big 36F I have them in case I am meeting someone outside family which is not very often

  • Always M&S (via the chaz).

  • I stopped buying fast fashion. I only buy very few items as I need them now. On the high Street,  Seasalt & crew clothing t-shirt etc have lasted me well, crew clothing are very good for mens t-shirts they do 3 for 2 & my husband has had some for years. I buy m&s bras. Sloggi knickers. M&co jeans are fab & cheap & last. Trespass for socks & coats. Decathlon is really good value for sports stuff.
Online better . I liken boden- sale only for cotton /wool jumpers/ cardigans. Also as someone else said lands end often have good quality on sale for t shirts . I've also found a new brand called Finstree & got some really nice cord trousers & a t shirt, more expensive than I would normally spend but in sale doable & will definitely last.

M&S clothes, for me, never seem to wear out, can't get rid of them! I usually like to wait for the sales though and I've got one of their Sparks cards so often get a good discount too.

Also Tu at Sainsbury's, although they sell cheaper clothes, they do wash, wear and last well. I cannot seem to wear out the leggings I got from there.

Some years ago I got some T shirts from H&M for £3 each and they also washed well and lasted, even though I didn't expect them to.

I almost always buy from charity shops and have done so for many years.

TU jersey-type material stands up well against Monsoon and M&S Per Una.
Makes I look for in charity shops are:
Joules, Phase Eight, Seasalt, Monsoon, TU, Boden, Fat Face, M&S, Mantaray, White Stuff, Next.
George (Asda) and F&F (Tesco) can also be good quality.

ETA: Wallis. Just bought a lovely jersey summer dress in lime greens and turquoise from a charity shop.

Charity and £bay shopper here. Marks, monsoon, per una, Isle, Laura Ashley, weird fish, and next are the ones I’m most likely to pick.

rarely ever see seasalt in charity shops, but totally love my two coats I have of theirs (from £bay).

I love Crew jumpers which I buy in their sales. It seems hard to find thicker V neck jumpers and Crew are one of the few that do them regularly. I've got several in different colours which are similar designs. They are true to size too which helps when buying online.

I've had a long sleeved tee shirt and a hoodie from Rapanui and I highly rate them. Their environmental credentials are very good, they make their stuff from organic cotton and you can return them for recycling when they wear out. My navy top has kept its colour and washes well. The prices I think are very good, I paid £35 for an organic cotton hoodie which I've worn loads and it still looks really good. Definitely worth a look at their website.
I had a look at their website and bought two cotton jumpers - very impressive they are too!  The quality is just great, I've become disillusioned with M&S recently as at lot of their clothes are now very thin, especially jumpers.  I've now ordered a Tshirt bundle and love that I can choose the colours of them individually.
    Many thanks for this recommendation.
