Carers allowance and universal credit !!!!!! ?

Could someone please explain this 
I get £67.60 x 4 = £270.40 allowance then universal support takes off -£292.93for carers allowance so Im minus -22.53 for being a carer. Im actually paying the government to be a carer. !!!!!!???

    You should be getting the carers element of UC c. £163 pm. 
    Check that you are.

    Your maths is wrong. 
    CA is weekly.
    UC is monthly.

    There are (on average) 4.33 weeks in a month not 4.

    67.6 * 52 / 12 = 292.93.

    So they take off carers allowance pound for pound , despite being a duel carer , income support never did that 
  • You should be getting an additional Carer's Element in your UC.

    On IS you got a carers premium 
    (approx £38 pw) equivalent to the £163pm of UC.
        You did not receive both IS and CA.

    I think you received both but the CA was deducted in full, just as in UC.
    Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

    Of course they did. It's treated the same way in UC as it was for IS and Income Related ESA. The only issue with UC is they don't "automatically" add the carers element, which in my opinion is wrong. You need to report a change of circumstances and report being a carer.
