Tax free childcare age

Hi all,
I know that the Tax Free Childcare scheme is open until the child turns 12, but what happens after that? Are you still able to use the money left in the account until it is gone, but not add any further funds to it? Or is it returned to you minus the 20% the Government put in? Does anyone on the forum know what happens? Thanks!
