Changing jobs before completion

We are relocating so needed to buy and get a new job at the same time. We’re both teachers so found jobs for a September start. As soon as my husband got his job offer (he got one first), we put our house up for sale. We sold our house and found a new build we liked. It is due to be finished in July/August. I’m now panicking that things will be delayed and we’ll end up starting our new jobs before completion and losing our mortgage (not so worried about moving part before then as we can move in with my parents temporarily) The jobs are permanent and combined we’d be earning slightly more. I know we need to talk to our mortgage advisor as we will have to declare it but I just wanted to hear others experiences with delayed completion and starting a new job.
