Can I retire at 55?

Hi

I know the minimum age you can take your personal pension is currently 55, although I believe this is changing at some point??

My DOB is 04/10/72, can I retire once I reach 55 given the proposed new dates / changes?

Retiring and taking a pension are two separate things. You can retire when you like but there are rules when you can commence taking benefits from a pension.

People born between 5 April 1971 and 5 April 1973 will have a window from their 55th birthday to 6 April 2028 to take benefits before the NMPA increases to 57. If they don't access their pension during this time, they will need to wait until their 57th birthday

As above you can retire when you are 35 if you like/can afford it .
Or you can take your pension at 55 ( state pension at 66) and work until you are 80 .
Taking personal pensions and retirement are unrelated.

It was quite clear and was answered as such.

If you can afford to you can retire whenever you like, the new pension age rules don't change that at all.
