Back for 2022: What's the best £1 you've ever spent?

Two years ago, MSE Becky asked "What's the best £1 you've ever spent?". She wrote a blog about it and began a Forum discussion which can be found here.

I'd love to hear some more examples.

For Becky, the best £1 spend was a battery-powered milk frother from Ikea. Other instances included:

"It was 1970 and I offered to buy a coffee for a girl who had missed a train at Paddington. Two cups of coffee at 50p each. We have been married for 45 years and have 3 great kids!"

"I bought Birds Eye fish fingers back when they had a “Win your mortgage” competition on the pack. I won the weekly giveaway of £1,000, which paid for my wedding dress, my shoes, alterations and maid of honour dress."

"In the run up to Euro 2016, my mum got me an England-themed bottle opener for £1 that cheered you each time you cracked open a bottle."

The year I got my train travel to spend Christmas with family for £1 with Megatrain was pretty good (a 'normal' ticket would have been about £30 at the time).

An IKEA box grater about 4 years ago would be the first first I could think of!

I got a cycle Jacket from Aldi in the final clearance part, kept me warm over quite a few winters now.

In the mid-1990s I spent £1 on a Moulinex hand mixer at a thrift market near Brighton railway station. I reckon it was probably at least 15-20 years old, and it's still going strong today! Best bargain ever!!

I spent £1 on a Philips hand mixer at my daughter's primary school Christmas Fair at least 20 years ago and it's still in regular use. I know it's an old model as I'd had one exactly the same for years 'til it died.

About 8 years ago I found a beautiful silk “Planet” dress on the pound rail of the charity shop. It was in perfect condition and is the most flattering dress I own - I always feel great and get compliments when I wear it !

A pair of black sequin knee high boots from Primark. They are incredibly comfortable and look stunning, you'd never know they were a quid!

A mini TV aerial from Poundworld. Our main aerial needed replacing and was going to be quite pricey. The new one picks up quite a few channels and we take it with us on caravan holidays.

The best £1 I ever spent was 30 years ago in a charity shop I bought what I thought was a cheap bracelet . My Mum noticed it was Rose Gold and after evaluation it was Gold and Topaz and worth £460. I gave the bracelet to my Mum
