How to take my name off mortgage

Hello, I’m not very knowledgeable on this sort of thing and I’d be very grateful to get some advice.
My ex partner and I split a year ago in April. I moved out and he has continued to live there. He has taken on the monthly payments since we split but he is dragging his feet when it comes to him actually removing me from the mortgage. I have got in contact numerous times with Halifax to try and do it myself but as he is the one who needs to remortgage, he has to be the one to do it. He has told me that he put the application in in December but I have not heard anything from anyone since. Whenever I contact him to ask if any progress has been made he always comes up with an excuse to prolong it. Yesterday I asked him and he told me that by the end of April he will be able to get things moving forward and as I’ve heard this from him before I just simply said that this is the last time I will be asking him for any update as this has taken far too long. I am not able to afford a solicitor as now I’m renting (which is a lot more monthly than the mortgage) and struggling to save.

Is there any other way I can go about this as I feel helpless right now. Thank you

when halifax approve him taking it in his own name you are asked to sign a form to finalise this and issue the offer. Solicitor then does some work on removing you from title.
If you havent been asked to sign anything then he has probably been rejected taking it over in his own name due to affordability calculations. Presumably in April he expects something to change. Is he self employed and waiting for latest years figures to come through?0 -

not a lot unfortunately. If the loan was agreed with 2 incomes and 1 isnt enough to support it then the lender wont allow a name to come off. At the moment Halifax have 2 people to chase for payment and dropping to 1 is only an option if that person can pass affordability checks0
