Sewing advice needed urgently

I bought a dress for my work's do on eBay. It is Warehouse, size 10, and I can get it up but my boobs then spill out :o

So, I have silver ribbon, and I have hooks and eyes - I am thinking of making the back a corset back, so I can tie it up just enough rather than be squashing my boobage.

I only have enough eyes to have them 6cms apart, as I need eyes on both sides to thread the ribbon through,

The zip would do up to above my waist, to the top of a beaded band, and then I'd have the ribbon corset back.

Is this going to work? Do you think it will look rubbish?

I have a green dress I can wear which I need to take IN round the bodice (I am not a standard size!) but I love this one as it is purple chiffon with silver beading round the waistband.

I have to do it tonight, so if it's not a goer I'd rather not waste my time.

Any sew-ers out there got any thoughts? Don;t really want to sew both dresses!

Just consulted my mum who made my ball dress from scratch  and she advised that it may be best to put the eyelets further apart and not take the zip past the waist so then it wouldn't look strange. I personally would just safety pin and stick on a bolero ;)

The true test is: would you feel really comfortable in it when you've had something to eat and a few drinks, followed by some dancing or christmas smooching? Would you be able to sit down confidantly? If not, then I would go for the safer option. Sorry to be a party pooper - but personally I would rather play safe than sorry. (Then again what do I know - I've not seen the inside of a size 10 since I was 11 years old!)

Enjoy your party anyway  :xmastree:
  • Only just seen this. What did you do? Any pics? Enjoy the party!

I agree with wearing something like a shrug over it. You really need to know what you are doing to make it secure if lacing it up so that it closes together well and doesn't look like a zip not going up problem. You could possible wear a really sparkley shrug/bolero. Have fun
